Q. How do I choose an aftercare facility?
A. By choosing an aftercare service, you expect to have your
companion animal treated with dignity and respect. Another
important aspect of this selection is recognizing your personal
needs. Referrals to aftercare facilities can be attained
through veterinary offices, family members, or friends.
Longevity may be an indication of credibility, but most establishments
have trade references, testimonials, or other documentation
available.
Does the establishment have a mission statement that clearly
defines its goal and dedication to its clientele?
When contacted, were your questions and concerns addressed
with sensitivity and professionalism?
Would you prefer to be attended to by full-time client representatives
who can personally assist you with information and services?
Standards and services vary from business to business, do they
offer services that will assist you in attaining closure related
to your loss?
What bereavement resources are available to you as a part of
their service?
Do they provide information you can review at your convenience?
(Web site, brochures, etc.)
Are tours of their facility available?
Is your main concern cost or healing from your loss?
